Northridge
Cal State's front yard. Jacarandas, ranch homes, and community roots.
Getting to know Northridge
Northridge sits at the heart of the San Fernando Valley — a neighborhood defined by wide, tree-lined streets, mid-century ranch homes, and a strong community feel. It's the kind of place where you know your neighbors and where jacarandas bloom purple along the sidewalks every June.
Home to California State University, Northridge (CSUN), the area draws energy from a large university community, top-rated K-12 schools, and easy access to shopping at the Northridge Fashion Center. The blend of academic, family, and small-business life gives the neighborhood a texture you don't find in newer master-planned developments.
For buyers, Northridge offers strong value for the square footage — larger lots than newer Valley communities, and a housing stock that ranges from post-war ranchers to Spanish revivals to updated contemporaries. For sellers, well-priced homes in family-friendly pockets continue to move.
Outdoor life is easy here. Northridge Recreation Center, Northridge Park, and the nearby Aliso Canyon trails give residents plenty of options. And with the 118 and 405 within reach, commuting to downtown LA or the coast is straightforward.
